Se

IF you can keep your head when all about you

Se conseguires manter a cabeça no lugar enquanto todos ao redor

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,

a perdem e culpam a ti ,

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,

Se puderes acreditar em ti enquanto todos os homens duvidam,

But make allowance for their doubting too;

permitindo o benefício da dúvida;

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

Se puderes esperar sem se cansar,

Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,

Ou para ti mentirem, mas não acreditares nas mentiras,

Or being hated, don't give way to hating,

Ou sendo odiado, não os odiar,

And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

E ainda assim não querer parecer bom, ou mostrar-se sábio:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;

Se puderes sonhar - e não fazer dos sonhos teu mestre;

If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;

Se puderes pensar - e não fazer dos pensamentos teu alvo;

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

Se puderes encontrar Triunfo e Desastre

And treat those two impostors just the same;

E tratar esses dois impostores do mesmo modo;

If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

Se puderes suportar ouvir a verdade que falas

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Distorcida por patifes para enganar aos bobos,

Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,

Ou ver aquilo pelo que deste tua vida, quebrado,

And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

E ainda consertar e reconstruir com ferramentas já gastas:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings

Se puderes fazer um amontoado de todos os teus prêmios

And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,

E arriscá-los em uma só jogada,

And lose, and start again at your beginnings

E perder, e recomeçar do zero

And never breathe a word about your loss;

E nunca reclamar das tuas perdas;

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

To serve your turn long after they are gone,
